In the belly of the Bear

(click to listen)

This is a somewhat strange song for me. Ingeborg and I did an experiment... I recorded a guided meditation based on the Ace of Pentacle card of the DruidCraft Tarot. It shows a bear in a winter setting. The idea was that we would get some inspiration for a midwinter song. We both made the journey and got back with some inspiration. Ingeborg wrote most of the song.

In the belly of the Bear
(Ingeborg/Nico, midwinter 2007)

G D Em D
And the dark blue sky, Puts its velvet cloak around us

C G D Am
So we may rest, With our minds at peace.

G D Em D
And with the silver birch, I reach out and honour

C G C D
The powers of light, Who soon will return.

Em C
In the belly of the bear, sleeps the sun (3x)

G D Am C
till he’s born, till he’s born, till he's born again.

We travel through the dark times with our eyes firmly closed
So we may rest, with the world asleep
through the rabbit hole, we fly to our future
to find the light, which will be our guide.

In the belly of the bear, sleeps the sun (3x)
till he’s born, till he’s born, till he's born again.

So the promise waits in silence in the earth
And we may rest with our hopes and dreams.
And with the stones beneath and the stars up above
We follow the light, that will bring us home.

Em C
In the belly of the bear, sleeps the sun (3x)
till he’s born, till he’s born, till he's born again.
