March 2006, with group (20 km in 2 days. 1 )
This overnight snowshoe hike into Fulufjallet was one of the many activities of a week to Sweden with SNP. We drove snow scooters and dog sleds, camped in a teepee, did some ice fishing, hung out with the sami and reindeer. Amazing stuff. I was a bit anxious to go with a group. I am usually very solitary and a bit of a control freak, especially in a landscape that could kill me. I made sure to have a map, gps and enough gear with me. I also had a lot of experience and strength, so when one of the partipants got into trouble and delayed the group, I volunteered to stay behind and slowly drag him along, while the guide continued on to take the group to the safety of the hut before darkness. Secretly, this was my highlight of the journey. Nearly alone in that white wilderness, with dusk falling. A few hours later we safely reached the hut also. We stayed in Sarna, and later in life that village became more important to me. 11 years later I would stay there with a broken leg, and I kept returning for adventures. Ingeborg and I later also camped (in summer) at the same site in Fulufjallet. This 2006 winter trip was my first time there, but not the last.
