4 day solo hike from near my hometown (Apeldoorn) across the Kootwijkerzand dunes to 'the other side'. About 20 km a day with a full pack around midsummer is hot work of blisters and sweat. But I hugely enjoyed the periods between the suffering ;-). This was the first time I did a multi day solo hike, which is surprising after about 70 hikes. I actually liked it, which was also a bit surprising.

Camp 3 early startI did not want to cross the sand dunes of Kootwijkerzand in the heat of the sun. So I got up when the birdsong started at 4 am, walked for an hour and had breakfast at sunrise at 5:15 in the middle of the sands.
