Hiking - 2005

USA, Wyoming, Yellowstone NP (4 days) & Grand Teton NP (3 days) - Sep 2005

Grand Teton National Park, Cascade & Rainbow Canyon - 3 days

Over the Paintbrush Divide (10700 ft) and back through Rainbow Canyon. A bit rainy and a bit scary due to a uninvited visitor in our camp. Suddenly I found myself chasing a black bear, barefoot in the frozen grass in the middle of a moonlit night (both me and the bear). After surviving some violent thunderstorms we where kind of glad to reach the trailhead. But the scenery and the wildernis were worth every step, as always.

Yellowstone National Park, Bechler Trail - 4 days

Highs and lows. We found hotsprings and had a warm bath after a -8 celcius night. One of the river crossings was too big and risky for our taste, but we survived. Another bear encounter in our camp at sunset and in the middle of the night caused some sleepless hours. Again, worth every step, but again glad that we made it back to the trailhead.

Other

Some images of the same vacation, but not taken during our hikes. A native american 'medicine wheel', a bull elk destroying our neighbors tent, campfire and a bison meeting the bacteria.
