Sweden 2011

Sånfjället National Park

  • 2011_09 - 6 days

  • This was a hike into one of the least inhabited parts of Sweden, which is also the part which has to most bears. And that was my goal, seeing a bear. The hike turned out to be divided into 2 distinct parts. First the suffering, and then the joy. It already rained when we left. The woods were boggy and the trails muddy. The rivers were hard to pass, swollen by the rain and beaver dams. After 2 days we reached the edge of Sånfjället National Park and then everything changed. The sun came out and the land climbed out of the bogs. We reached parts of the wilderness and parts of our minds that we would not have reached without the first days of suffering. And it became one of those Big Trips.
